commentary: waaii.. awsome song! one of the first shakira songs i d/led.. i still want, like, all of her cds. hehehe.. anyway! tonight I got kinda bored, procrastinating you know, and just translated this on a whim. i used altavista's babel fish for vocabulary i didn't know, but i did most of it myself. i'm especially proud of the "like a cat, i'll land on my feet" and "i never knew how to act like my lips weren't dying of thirst" lines because those weren't literal translations and i had to figure them out myself.. go me! XD also, the whole "to your mouth, like an anise" thing.. i know it doesn't really make sense and that most people don't know what an anise is.. but according to the dictionary, it's a plant thing with 'aromatic seeds', and well, that's what it says "anis" translates to. i don't really think there's any really good way to translate it and have it make sense in english, it must be one of those spanish-only things. tee hee. translating spanish is really easy and fun, so i may get lyrics for some of shakira's other spanish stuff and put translations on my site. so, yeay! *is proud of herself for translating the song ^.^*

commentary: Yay. Eminem is so good for the general public. I think he and India.Arie (and for a time Enya) are the only artists regularly played on pop music stations who are truly unique and who last. I don't mind saying Eminem is a lyrical genius. This song is his latest and I think it's pretty good. The subject matter is a new one for him -- his take on making it in the music business today. I can't wait to get the soundtrack! And I heard the movie was a hit at Sundance, which surprised me, 'cos generally I am wary of movies starring musicians, even Eminem. So hopefully it's good. commentary: so a lot of people don't like morning musume, meaning a lot of people don't like aoiro 7, one of the many morning musume subgroups. personally, even though morning musume can be completely factory made and machine processed, i still think they're an extremely innovative group. how many girl bands have you seen have 13 members, eh? enough members to make an entire group of sub-groups! aoiro 7 is the most "rock", if you could call it that, of the sub-groups. they're pop rock anyways. but this pop punk is happy and bouncy, and still rocking and jamming, which is why i like the song. come on, one can try to hide it, but you know you want to sing along and jam to the song whenever it plays. i give too many things five stars. but that's because i like all of these songs.

commentary: damn, this song was delayed a long time. it's because of two lines that i absolutely couldn't translate, and no one i asked had any idea on either. i had originally planned to submit my translation to animelyrics.com when i finished with it, until someone else beat me to it.. grrrr on them, btw.. but they did help me, because i could then use their translation to help me finish my own (no, i didn't copy it, i just used theirs as a guide when i wrote my own). however, i didn't translate the entire song myself, the top half was copied from my fansubs of the ccs second movie. this song is from the extra featuring kero and supi at the end of said movie, and it's really cute, just like the song (which some people, namely allison, have dubbed "the cake song").. i really like this song because it's so cute and fun. it's actually a duet sung by both kero and supi, although kero does most of the lines and supi just joins in on the choruses, so you can't really tell anyway.. a note about the translation, a karintou isn't really a pastry, it's like a sugared dumpling or something (i got this info from an episode of some anime i have on my comp, but now i can't remember the anime or the episode, just that it doesn't literally mean pastry).. but since i already had "dumpling" right before it, i had to pick a different word.. anyway, this is the last of the songs from the series and the movies (finally!), which means i can move onto image songs now. yeay! ^_^

commentary: You know how I am about lyrics, so it makes sense that I've found this song to be especially impressive. What kind of surprised me was that it got play on pop music stations which usually churn out a lot of the same crap with paper-thin lyrics. Anyway, I think it speaks to everyone about having a positive body image, and it's significant coming from a popular artist. commentary: I just downloaded this song so I'm not sure yet what to think of it. It's certainly different from SES 4, which was all I'd basically heard beforehand. Their new sound is more energetic and less sugary, which is nice. The lyrics are too repetitive. The video supposedly doesn't really match the song, 'cos the song is about love and the video about "career women". Oh well, it will grow on me. :)

commentary: this used to be one of my favorite songs like last year or something.. i always put it in between blue as the sky and get your love. it's still pretty cool, but i don't love it as much as i used to.. it's played in episode 68, when sakura goes to visit clow reed in the past and flowers start blooming and stuff and is paired with tobira wo akete, also by (oyama) anza.. it's really cool. right after the fourth or so couplet-thing is where i started translating it myself. i still can't believe i did it all, and in one night too! commentary: last of the second movie songs, this one's paired with ashita e no melody cause they're both by chaka, although it sounds nothing like the former song and is so un-CCS that a lot of people go "is this really a CCS song??" but it is, it's in my second movie digest book.. anyway, i finally got translation for this song and wasn't really surprised at all.. you can tell most of what it's about from the engrish (which is pretty weird.. commentary: yeay!! SUCH A COOL SONG!!! ^_^ this is the second movie ending song, and it's sooo coool.. it starts playing right before sakura jumps into syaoran's arms [well, and gets paused before she gets there *grr*] and the way it leads into the credits is just so cool!! ^.^ a long time ago, i tried to romanize this song myself because i hadn't found any other romanizations/translations of it [really, i just hadn't been looking hard enough ^^] and.. yeah..it wasn't that bad, i got most of the words right, but this romanji and translation i found on a really good site is definitely better. i think i might've edited it in a few places where i liked my romanji better, i dunno. trying to romanize a song myself was fun, and good practice for other songs. ^^ anyway! it's a really cool song!! so get it!

commentary: yeah, i like this song. there's also a mandarin version of it (also, coincidentally, called "spring night love song". dunno what the chinese title is), sung by a chinese lady named wuyontana. i sent the song to elsa to see if she could romanize the chinese, but she says that there are sounds in chinese that can't really be expressed in english, and also that the singer has a "chinese accent" that makes her hard to understand.. imagine that! a chinese accent when speaking chinese! tehehehe. anyway, this song is from the first movie, when sakura-tachi go to hong kong, which is probably why they made a chinese version of it (i heard the mandarin version before the japanese one, actually). anyway, it's a nice song, although it was never played anytime in the movie. i think an instrumental version of it was, though. i really wish i had translation of it. maybe someday someone'll do it.. or i'll get off my lazy butt and attempt to do it myself. tee hee..

hey, you know what, it's your fault for being lazy and copying lyrics off animelyrics.com when i had already taken the time to write down the romanji and translation from the episodes and was planning to put them up myself (okay, so i'm a little bitter about that.. hehe). Commentary: It was incredibly difficult translating this song because the lyrics are so poetic and full of all that symbolic language crap our English teachers love so much. ^_^; However, regardless of whether you understand the words or not, this song is really very beautiful. Alejandro Sanz is probably the biggest recording artist in Spain's history, and has a huge fan base in Europe and a growing one in the Americas (he is already very popular in Latin America). Actually I think he was on the Today Show not long ago... Anywho, he did this song in a style that's reminiscent of a lot of Brazilian music, but it has its own twist. So go buy this album or one of his others... or undermine the music industry and go download it from Audiogalaxy. ^_^ Whatever floats your boat.

commentary: baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah~!!!!!!! this is one of the very best songs ever~!! boom boom fire is so great~!! it's an insane remix of boom boom dollar, even though the only thing remotely similar to boom boom dollar is the fact that they say boom boom dollar, and the fact that it's the same track of the guy going "boom". that's it. but that doesn't matter, because this is such an AWESOME song~!! o.o!! it gets your blood flowing and your body moving, just like a para para song should be doing; i count this as one of the top ever super-eurobeat songs~ and the para para to it is friggin fun as well. what's strange is it feels so great listening to it/dancing to it, but man, typing it down just took forever!! i kept having these insane urges to jump up and start doing the dance (..to which i succumbed and DID in fact jump up and do the dance. go me.) boom boom fire!!

commentary: oh god, how do I love this song. it's just so nice and beautiful, and makes you feel sad and happy at the same time. it's a wonderful wonderful song, everyone should download it. not a lot of people have heard of it cause it's not very well-known. i'm very lucky to have found translation to it.. without the site that had the lyrics/translation, I wouldn't have even known about the song! I love the music box part at the beginning and end, and the part of the song about not being able to express your feelings.. just download it and listen to it whenever you're in the mood for a slow-tempo song. also, sepia means brown. I have no clue why they used that.. summer does not say brown to me.. and sometimes people translate the song as sepia fire (hi can mean day or fire).. brown fire.. which really doesn't make sense. at least, less sense than "brown days" does. well actually, now that does kinda make sense.. anyway, it's about nostalgia and stuff, so I love it.

Commentary: I love the lyrics to this song. They speak to me in some weird way that I cannot express. They are really sad but in a weird way they make me feel good. Lenny Kravitz is, I think, one of the few remaining icons of pure rock. His songs aren't sugar-coated like pop, nor are they too much like R&B. They are just rock. :D I think the first time I heard Again, I was on a plane somewhere in Europe, so everytime I hear this song I think of travel. Weird how things associate themselves, ne?

Commentary: This is one of the first MP3s I ever got, and rightfully so. I heard this when I first visited John' Seale's church, where they play alternative songs as a form of worship. I got the meaning right away: the child, not knowing any better, gave weeds to his mother as a present. Anyone else would be disgusted, but his mother loves him so much that she embraces this gift, although it isn't nearly what she could have gotten. That's the way God sees us... we lift up our praise and worship, which is mere trash when compared to His greatness, but he accepts and treasures it as if it were the best gifts He could ever receive. That's why I love this song... it makes me feel that no job is too small, too insignifigant, that the Lord will not take pleasure in it.

Commentary: OooooOooooHHH I loooove this song!! This is possibly my favorite song right now. Anywho, it's sung by a Scottish band called Capèrçaillie, and the lead singer is Karen Matheson. This song was recorded over 10 years ago for their album Delirium, and then for the Celtic compilation album from which I first heard this song they used a live version. It's even better and more full of life than the original. If you look at the lyrics you will see that they form kind of anthem for Scotland. In the tradition of Celtic music, they tell a story, and that is of the suppression and gradual resurfacing of Scottish culture and the hardships thorugh which the Scots had to suffer. I like lyrics with meaning. :) This song is mainly English with some Scots-Gaelic background vocals, but other songs by Capèrçaillie are purely in Scots-Gaelic. The musical energy really flows through it, too. Anyway, check out this song, I think it will appeal to a lot of tastes.

S.E.S. is, of course, the best K-POP group. :D Their fourth album is good, in that it makes you feel very happy. The whole CD is upbeat and happy and will lift you out of any foul mood, and JOY does this better than any of the other songs. It's the best song on the album, in my opinion. I don't give it 5 stars because I feel that it could be more unique, but pop isn't known for its originality, so I have to consider that. commentary: I don't know why I'm doing this song. but cause i put it on my mp3 player I listened to it a lot over vacation, and besides that, it's an all-around cool song. it's all.. cool and stuff. tee hee. they used to play this on the radio a year or so ago, so it's kind of old, but I never knew what it was called so I didn't listen to it often. however, I found out recently and d/led it and that's why I'm listening to it now instead of liking it a year ago like everyone else. it's the kind of song you don't really get tired of. and it's grooving. yeah~!
